Solved : when moving data (LN7) to another newer computer (LN85x)
Upgrading a data folder moved to the newer lotus notes by:
-Installing the newer lotus notes version with the newer Fix Pack (Normally this action is already done on the Ghost image installed on the computer)
-Start Lotus notes and make the configuration of the user you need to upgrade. (DO NOT copy the data folder for the moment !)
---> just run the configuration as if it was a new user ! (we will move the data file later...)
- If it concerns a roaming user when a window is prompt on the screen to take one of the 3 actions asked in the message. Choose : "Ask me the next time I start this Notes ..."
- Close the lotus notes when the configuration is finished.
- copy and paste the listed files * from the data of the older computer into the new data folder already created on the new computer:
names.nsf
*bookmark.nsf
*desktop6.ndk
*ID file
*user.dic
*headlines.nsf if you use subscriptions
Any personal databases you have created, such as journal.nsf
*Any databases your have replicated locally, such as your mail file
*Your mail file archive if you have one
----> if a window ask you to overwrite an existing file (on the new computer) validate this action for all (the old data contains the priority files!)
- ! Before starting the lotus notes you need to delete the desktop8.ndk
- Start Lotus notes 8.5.x containing now the real files of the user concerned in.
- If it concerns a roaming user when a window is prompt on the screen to take one of the 3 actions asked in the message. Choose : "Ask me the next time I start this Notes ..."
- Close lotus notes (during this time the old workspace is converted in version 8)
- Start again the client lotus notes.
- If it concerns a roaming user when a window is prompt on the screen to take one of the 3 actions asked in the message. Choose : "Roam the workspace on...."
- !!! Now if you check the workspace of the user migrated in lotus 8.5.x on the newer computer you will see that the workspace contains the icons of database shortcuts as in the past on the old client notes.
the last step is to upgrade the design mail box ;-)
